The Lancaster Arms Logo
The Lancaster Arms was established in 1843 when the owner, Benjamin Teague, pulled down the existing
house and built the roadside inn and turnpike cottage.

It is named after the Royal house of Lancaster who owned extensive hunting grounds in the
surrounding area.

Famous Kings of the house of Lancaster include Henry Vth who fought at Agincourt and Henry VII who defeated
Richard III at the battle of Bosworth Field to unite the warring houses of York and Lancaster, becoming the
house of Tudor.

We closed the pub in November 2006 to concentrate on Bed and Breakfast and offer our guests a comfortable
and relaxing stay.
